Types of Collaboration


According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, the word collaboration is derived from the word collaborate which means “to cooperate with an agency or instrumentality with which one is not immediately connected”. Essentially the word collaboration is an umbrella term that is used to describe any multi-organizational initiative. However, not all multi-organizational initiatives require the same amount of resources, time, and effort to make work. Therefore social scientist have created five different categories (types) of collaboration based on these key elements.
