President Barack Obama is pulling out all the stops to get Congress to grant him trade promotion authority.

He wants to assure the 11 other Asia-Pacific countries negotiating a Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) on trade and investment that any agreement he signs will be submitted to the Congress for a straight up-or-down vote, with no amendments allowed. The U.S. Coalition for TPP is a broad-based group of U.S. companies and associations representing the principal sectors of the U.S. economy including agriculture, manufacturing, merchandising, processing, publishing, retailing, technology, transportation and services. Coalition members support and are working to secure approval of the TPP agreement in the United States.

What's The TPP?

The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is an ambitious and potentially groundbreaking free trade agreement (FTA) recently negotiated by the United States and 11 other countries in the Asia-Pacific region. With total trade in 2013 between the U.S. and TPP countries exceeding $1.5 trillion in goods and $270 billion in services, TPP has the potential to become the largest U.S. FTA in history.
